Burnham Children {Indianapolis Area Family Photographer}
Not only will I meet you at a local park, or the zoo, I will also come to your home, as I did with the Burnham family. I photographed their four children using their stairs and a great window that allowed a lot of natural light to filter in. They even had their two little kittens join in for a few of the photos. I really enjoyed working with this family and hope to work with them again very soon!
Spice Family {Indianapolis Area Family Photographer}
I had two shoots on the same day at White River Gardens. I think this is becoming my new favorite spot!
I had the pleasure of photographing this wonderful dad and his little boy. Little man was adorable! He was all smiles, and I could tell he was Daddy’s boy!
I hope that I will get to work with these two again in the near future!
Ned & Noah {Indianapolis Area Children’s Photographer}
Ned and Noah were two very handsome young men that I had the pleasure of photographing at White River Gardens this January. You can definitely see the brotherly love there! They were both great for their photos, and I look forward to photographing them again in the future! Maybe next time, Mom & Dad will join in on the session. This was all about the boys this time.
A Day At The Zoo – Moulton Family {Indianapolis Area Family Photographer}
I had a wonderful time photographing the Moulton family at the Indianapolis Zoo and White River Gardens a few weeks ago. We met at the entrance to White River Gardens, and decided it was best to start with some posed photos before the kids got restless. We spent a little time in the Conservatory, photographing those beautiful blue eyes! Then, we headed in to the zoo for some fun with the animals. Baby Kim zonked out early, but little Gracie was all about it! She was working so hard to pet the sharks and finally did it, with a little help from Daddy. She had one little penguin that kept her attention for a little while, and she seemed more interested in the fake walrus on the wall than the real one that kept swimming by. What surprised me was that she just didn’t seem interested in the dolphins when we went into the underwater dome.
One of my favorite photos from this session was when we met the sea lions and one swam by with Gracie’s hand on the glass like she was trying to pet him. The expression on her face was caught by her reflection in the glass. Love it!
I look forward to working with this family again in the future!
Studio Space Search
So, I decided it was time to start searching for some studio space. It would be nice to be able to move out of our home, and into my own office where I can showcase my work, and be seen by the public. An indoor spot, in case of bad weather.
We headed over to the South East side of downtown, near Raymond and Shelby to look at a place there that used to be a portrait studio a couple of years ago. It was nice, but I am not sure about the drive to that side of town every day. I hate driving in traffic, and their would be interstate driving through downtown every day for me with that one.
On the plus side, this space is right across from Garfield Park, it is right on Shelby St, lots of vehicles driving by there all the time, and it has big beautiful windows on the front side of it that would allow for plenty of displays to be seen from the road. On the downside, it has dark walls that the landlord did not seem very open to changing. Dark, wood panel walls. Obviously for photos, there would be backdrops, but for the gallery space, it didn’t make for a nice cheery entry.
So, lots to think about when choosing the perfect space. Obviously, I would love a space in Avon or Plainfield, but finding one that is not too small, and not too big is the challenge that I am running into. Most spaces are well over 1,000 square feet, and I think 1,000 square feet would be perfect. I could even go as low as 600 square feet depending on the layout of the room. So, if you know of anyone that has retail space that isn’t huge, and is in a high traffic area with windows to display work in, let me know! I am motivated to get my space.
I am also looking to partner up with a few other vendors. Sort of a one stop shop for weddings and other events. Event planners, florists, invitations, videographers, officiants, anything events. They wouldn’t have to occupy the space, but they could advertise their business there, for a small fee.
Again, if you know of anyone that would be interested in partnering up, please contact me via email, phone or text!
Erricka!
